11, 2001: When Venus Meets Thor: Patio
Intercept With Friends Misty, moist, mysterious atmospheres
envelop, punctuated by dances of
flickering lightning that break into orgies of nearby fire- bolts and ear
rustling thunderclaps. Greening worlds of radiant grass and tree buds awaken
beneath this display of Divine Power. Sheets
of rain carry petals of white blossom from tree to earth, and waves of pea to
dime sized hailstones briefly dance
and bounce across cars, grass and rocks with a roar. During
the storms climax, blue-white, platinum and gold touched ribbons and curling
bolts of fire land real close to my patio, disappearing into earth shattering
crashes of thunder as we cheer it on. At
least three bolts land within a block of us; two of which slither as close as
1/4 block away. Many others land real close too. My friends and I whoop and
holler in child-like delight. As
storm passes on and booming
thunder/ vivid flickers move towards the NE distance, all brightens into
gold-touched grayness, silent
sweetness and stillness. The
storms start about 12:45 PM and last with a constancy till 2:20 PM, peaking out
in a 30 minute climax around 1:50 PM. The
south wind and moody misty mysterious grayness combined with this electrical and
juicy passion makes this a fascinating and soul-touching experience. |
