March
12, 2001; Flickering
Light/ Rolling Thunder; Bedroom
Window Intercept. Storms last
from midnight through at least 2:30 AM, with the most dramatic show being about
12:10 - 12:50 AM.. Our
peak storm fills the night with frequent pulses of dazzling white lightning
across the sky and long rolls of thunder that sometimes merge into and arise
within one another. Twice,
the night turns to pure brilliant light, and immediate crashes of thunder
respond, as one bolt lands almost on my apartment, and another within a few
hundred yards of my bedroom. The second bolt, though indistinguishable from its
pulse, includes an intricate slithering of seething white branches looping
across one another like snakes on top of it. Rain
starts light and becomes moderately heavy for awhile. |
