April
23,2001: Lightning and Strokes of Pen; beginning 3:45AM I am
awakened by occasional outbursts of fluttering platinum light that bounce across
my bedroom walls. It is a laid back
storm, a far cry from the “severe storm watch” of earlier evening that never
pans out. Grabbing
my journal, I sit by the window and write, glancing up to see a sudden wild
flicker from time to time where branches and looping forks of light crack across
the sky with a frenzy, disappearing into loud rolls that themselves fade into
stillness of lightly falling rain and gusty wind.
Some
of the discharges are especially dramatic and beautiful, splaying about and
crisscrossing one another. If you
haven’t yet, you might wish to try sometime doing journal work, painting, or
meditating to the soothing background of a peaceful storm. |
